Briefing - Facilitating of Low Carbon Concrete by Councils in NSW
Advancement in low carbon cement and concrete provides promising opportunities to reduce impact in a major material in construction. Councils around Australia use an immense amount of concrete. In this event, NSW Government DCCEEW explains their low emissions specification program to support councils to implement low carbon concrete in thier projects.
The Policy sets expectations for NSW Government delivery agencies for managing upfront and embodied carbon on public infrastructure projects. This event provides a recap on the Policy and Measurement Guidance, along with a more detailed overview of a Toolkit of resources that Infrastructure NSW is releasing to support agencies and project teams to apply the Policy.
The Toolkit comprises of fact sheets, templates, worked examples and case studies that also aim to uplift decarbonisation capability within industry. The resources were informed by a Decarbonisation Capability Survey undertaken in 2024, which was a collaborative effort with the MECLA Readiness Working Group. The session also provides an overview of key findings and insights, along with some next steps on readiness and capability uplift for Infrastructure NSW and MECLA.
